MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS - LEVEL 1 -
The purpose of this course is to assist students in making informed decisions regarding their future academic and occupational goals and to provide information regarding careers in the Arts, A/V Technology, and Communication Career Cluster. The content includes but is not limited to, technology literacy; understanding the importance of Arts and A/V; understanding the role of science, math, reading, writing, history, and technology in Arts and A/V; and Digital Media. Reinforcement of academic skills occurs through classroom instruction and applied laboratory procedures. Instruction and learning activities are provided through theory and hands-on experiences with the equipment, materials, and technology appropriate to the course content and in accordance with current practice
Graphic Design I - LEVEL 2 -
This instructional program in applied visual arts is a core course and prepares individuals to use artistic techniques to effectively communicate ideas and information to business and consumer audiences via illustrations and other forms of printed media. My program will focus on getting students accustomed to using Adobe software efficiently for designing and illustrating purposes. The second half of the Fundamentals course will focus on the functional design aspects of advertising illustration. There may be wiggle room to work on graphic illustrating for purposes such as cartoons, graphic novels, or personal artwork. Students should be knowledgeable and fluent with the elements of art, and will knowledge and applications of the principles of design will be fluent by the end of the course.
Graphic Design II - LEVEL 3 -
This is a core course emphasizing the integration of computer skills and knowledge of software used in the marketplace. This course will advance and continue students’ working knowledge of the principles of design, the operations, and skills to use Adobe software for Graphic Design and Advertising.
Graphic Design Lab - LEVEL 3 –
This production-based program is designed to allow serious advertising design students time for the development of skills and knowledge needed to execute a comprehensive advertising design product.
